Kinetics and thermochemistry of cyclohexadienes reactions with hydroxyl radicals

چکیده

Cyclohexadienes (CHDs) are important intermediates in the pyrolysis and oxidation of many C6 cyclic hydrocarbons. Under combustion relevant conditions, these dienes may either eliminate H2 directly or lose H atoms sequentially to produce first aromatic ring, i.e., benzene. This is one major reaction pathways for formation benzene from Despite its importance PAH soot process, chemistry CHD has attracted less attention scientific community. In this work, we have investigated hydrogen abstraction reactions 1,3- 1,4-CHD by OH radicals using a shock tube UV laser absorption over temperature range 900 – 1100 K pressures ? 1 3 atm. Reaction kinetics was followed monitoring near 307 nm. At high temperatures, both isomers CHDs found exhibit comparable reactivity with radicals. These show weak positive dependence. Measured rate coefficients can be represented following Arrhenius expressions units cm3 molecule?1 s ? 1: k1(1,3?CHD+OH)=1.76×10?10exp(?1761KT)k2(1,4?CHD+OH)=2.23×10?10exp(?1813KT) To gain further insights into reactions, various ab initio methods were employed compute thermochemical data. study reports high-temperature kinetic data cyclohexadienes which will beneficial improve performance models

Radical thermochemistry and organic reactions*

Most free radicals are transient species and it is therefore difficult to measure their thermochemical properties. We have used two new techniques that address this problem. Photoacoustic calorimetry was used to measureheats of formation of free radicals and thus homolytic bond strengths, while photomodulated voltammetry was used to measure their oxidation and reduction potentials. The data off...

Reactions of allylic radicals that impact molecular weight growth kinetics.

The reactions of allylic radicals have the potential to play a critical role in molecular weight growth (MWG) kinetics during hydrocarbon oxidation and/or pyrolysis. Due to their stability (when compared to alkyl radicals), they can accumulate to relatively high concentrations. Thus, even though the rate coefficients for their various reactions are small, the rates of these reactions may be sig...

Kinetics and Mechanism of Trithionate and Tetrathionate Oxidation at Low pH by Hydroxyl Radicals

The oxidation kinetics of trithionate (S3O 2− 6 ) and tetrathionate (S4O 2− 6 ) with hydroxyl radicals (OH∗) have been investigated in systems analogous to acid mine drainage (AMD) environments. The discovery of hydroxyl radical (OH∗) formation on pyrite surfaces (Borda et al., 2003) suggests hydroxyl radicals may affect the oxidation kinetics of intermediate sulfur species such as tetrathionat...

Thermochemistry of arylselanyl radicals and the pertinent ions in acetonitrile.

Reduction and oxidation potentials of a series of parasubstituted phenylselanyl radicals, XC(6)H(4)Se(*), have been measured using photomodulated voltammetry in acetonitrile. The thermodynamic significance of these data was substantiated through a study of the oxidation process of the pertinent selenolates in linear sweep voltammetry. Both the reduction and the oxidation potentials correlate li...
